Enugu Dep Gov, Onyebuchi, slumps before Impeachment Panel

The deputy Governor of Enugu state, Sunday Onyebuchi this morning August 13th slumped before the impeachment panel set up to investigate allegations of gross misconduct and unlawful rearing of chickens in his official residence leveled against him by the State House of Assembly.
According to Vanguard, the Deputy governor arrived the panel sitting at about 9am in company of his wife Mrs Nneka Onyebuchi, his children as well as his legal team. He began his testimony in front of the panel around 9.30am but three hours later, around 11.35am, he slumped and was immediately rushed out of the premises to the hospital where he is receiving treatment.

MD Abubakar hands over to new IG of Police, Suleiman Abba

Following the appointment of Ag. IGP Suleiman Abba as the new Inspector-General of Police by President Jonathan, the new IG has today, August 1, formally taken over from former Police boss, IGP MD Abubakar who had successfully piloted the affairs of the Force from the 25th January, 2012 when he was appointed to July 31, 2014, having completed 35 years of service. The new IGP who hails from Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State holds degrees in History and Law and has attended several management and security courses within and outside Nigeria. He is an alumnus of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.

El Rufai's 23 year old son crashed

El Rufai's son Hamza El Rufai died this morning in a fatal accident. Here are pics from the accident scene. Hamza was driving the black Lexus car (pictured above) when he ran into a stationery blue colored Volkswagen Saloon car around the Ningi Barrack along A.Y.A - Kubwa road aroudn  5.30am this morning July 29th.

Two persons were involved in the crash but only Hamza died. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, his corpse was taken to the national mosque by his parents while the crashed vehicles were deposited at the Maitama Police station. Hamza was a student of Rochester Institute of Technology, Dubai and was billed to graduate in 2015.
PRESIDENT JONATHAN COMMISERATES WITH MALLAM EL-RUFAI ON THE LOSS OF HIS SON


President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has received with a deep sense of grief and shock, news of the sudden and untimely death of Hamza El-Rufai, son of the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.


On behalf of himself, his family and the Federal Government, President Jonathan extends his heartfelt commiserations to Mallam el-Rufai and all members of the el-Rufai family.


The President says although no amount of words can fill the deep gap created by the loss of Hamza, he hopes that the outpouring of support at this moment by friends and associates will comfort Mallam El-Rufai.


President Jonathan prays for the peaceful repose of the soul of the departed and also for God’s blessing, comfort and protection for Mallam El-Rufai and the rest of his family.

Military shut down telecommunication service in Borno Sta

The Nigerian military yesterday shut down all telecommunication services in Borno state as it takes on Boko Haram activities. Residents in the state woke up yesterday to a "No Service" signal on their phones. Confirming the shutdown, spokesman of the 7-Division of the Nigeria Army, Muhammed Dole said its a military move necessary under the present circumstance. "We all know the inconveniences that this might have brought, but it is a necessary and temporary measure that will not take long time” Dobe said. He said its a sacrifice everyone including the residents have to make in the..
